Molly Dowler Privett was born in Streatham, England. At the age of 22 she immigrated to Limerick, Saskatchewan, but within 2 years relocated again to Victoria, British Columbia.

In Victoria, Privett studied under Herbert Seibner, who influenced her stylized, angular lines. Over time, she became a prominent printmaker on Vancouver Island, all the while also working in paintings and pastels.

In the 1960’s, she became a member of Victoria's Point Group, (the precursor to the Limners) and the B.C. Society of Artists. She exhibited in both solo and group shows in both Vancouver and Victoria, and received an honourable mention at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria juried show in 1965.
